MEMC Korea - Steady does it

President Moon Jae-in watches the wafer etching process using hydrogen fluoride at MEMC Korea’s plant in Cheonan, South Chungcheong on Friday. 

MEMC Korea manufactures silicon wafers, which are key components of semiconductors, and opened its second plant on Friday. The company is 100 percent owned by Taiwan’s GlobalWafers. 

President Moon stressed the need for the localization of semiconductor parts. Korea imports 65 percent of the silicon wafers it uses. [YONHAP]
